Austin Fox gives family a fifth sectional crown

For the fifth time in the past seven years, the Section II state golf qualifier became a Fox trot.

Senior Austin Fox of Bethlehem won medalist's honors for the third consecutive year Thursday at Orchard Creek, shooting a 1-over-par 72 to finish three strokes ahead of Saratoga Springs junior Nolan Crowley.

No other player has ever won the Section II individual title three times. The last two-time winner was Victor Fox, older brother of Austin, in 2011 and 2012.

"My brother called me last night and said, 'I want you to beat me,' " Austin said. "That gave me confidence. I don't know if he meant it, but I took it, and it gave me a lot of confidence.
