[Women's Golf] Tigers have big personal bests; team finishes third at UPike
Georgetown College women's golf entered their third fall tournament and had its best showing with a third place finish in the University of Pikeville Invitational. Sophomore Baylee Salyers bounced back from a tough home tournament with a strong second place finish overall to earn all-tournament honors.
Salyers was tied for first, forcing a playoff with Pikeville's Laken Newsome. Newsome made a birdie on the extra hole. However, Salyers shot a collegiate personal best 73 on day one and a two-day personal best of 151.
"It was a combination of good shots and some bad shots," Salyers said. "The first day I had the run of my life, in my last six holes I went four-under par. Day two was not as great, I had one bad hole that really hurt.
"Overall, I had two collegiate personal records, and I'm very proud of that. I'm proud of how well I did, but I also know I can improve a couple areas of my game."
