[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Finishes 8th in Weather Suspended Mid-South Classic
Newton, Kansas –Grand View University men's golf team traveled to the Sand Creek Station Golf Course to compete in the star-studded Mid-South Classic. The Vikings finished 8th in a field that featured 7 teams ranked in the NAIA Coaches Preseason Top-25 Rankings as well as suspended play due to weather.
Grand View improved its score by 14 strokes between Rounds 1 and 2. Moving the team up two spots on the leaderboard.
Grand View was led by a pair of sophomores. Devon Woody carded the lowest score for the Vikings. He shot a 148 (75-73) for the tournament. Braxton Risetter followed directly behind his teammate carding a 149 (77-72). Risetter's second round score of 72 was the lowest round score for Grand View. All-American Mitch Pfingsten was a model of consistency for the Vikings. He shot a 152 (76-76) with the first and second round that mirrored each other.
The field was composed of some of the best teams in NAIA. The No. 1 team in the country, Oklahoma City (1), won the event with a 568 (281-287). Along with Grand View, Mount Mercy and Culver-Stockton rounded out the Heart of America participants. Alex Rainville of Johnson & Wales University sat atop the leaderboard at the end of the tournament.
