[Women's Golf] Rachael McMahan / Trevecca 2nd @ Great Midwest Fall Invitational

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's golf teams finished play at the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Fall Invitational Tuesday, but two weather delays reduced the tournament to nine holes on the final day and overall, just 27 holes were counted toward the championship. 

 

Trevecca's Rachel McMahan finished second overall (113). She trailed Makenzie Torres (110) of the University of Findlay by three strokes.

 

Trevecca finished second with a 27-hole total of 487 (+55).

TREVECCA TEAM 

After McMahan, Lexi Shaw finished tied for 10th with an 122 (+14) and Madalyn Hembree (FR/Chattanooga, TN) 15th with an 125 (+17). Teagan Perry (SO/Decherd, TN) with an 127 (+19) and Brynn Craven (SO/McMinnville, TN) finished 37th with a 147 (+39) also contributed to the Trevecca team effort.

 

TOURNAMENT FIELD REPORT

The University of Findlay finished in first with a score of 456 (+24) and the title. They finished 31 strokes up on the Trojans. In third, Ohio Dominican University 16 strokes (503) back of Trevecca.

 

TREVECCA INDIVIDUAL

Rachael McMahan (SO/Knoxville, TN) tied the field for the lead in par three scoring (even par, 3.00) and par four scoring (+2, 4.13). Madalyn Hembree tied for eighth in par four scoring (eight-over par, 4.53). Lexie Shaw (SO/Knoxville, TN) (SO/Knoxville, TN) is sixth in the field in par four scoring (four-over par, 4.40). Three Trojans are tied for fifth in the field on the par five holes averaging 5.17 (one-over par).

 

Rachael McMahan finished tied for fourth in birdies in the field with three. Madalyn Hembree is tied for fifth with two birdies. McMahan is tied for fifth in pars in the field with 16.

 

TOURNAMENT LEADERBOARD DETAILS 

Makenzie Torres (Findlay) won with a score of 110 (+2), Rachael McMahan second (113), and a stroke (114) back in third was Christina Williams of Malone.

 

WHAT'S NEXT

Round two on Tuesday before visiting Springfield, IL for the University of Southern Indiana Fall Preview September 30 and October 1 at Panther Creek Golf Club. The Trevecca Music City Invitational at the Old Hickory Country Club in Old Hickory, TN on October 23-24.
