Comebacks, emotional win highlight finish for Capital Region's women golfers
Comebacks and emotional victories were the top highlights of the 2017 golf season for Capital Region women.
LPGA veteran and Scotia native Laura Diaz made a return to golf in June after taking more than a year off because of a broken leg she suffered in February of 2016 while training for a marathon.
She played in seven tournaments, including earning a spot and making the cut in the British Open. Her best finish was a 9-under tie for 20th in the Marathon Classic in July at Highland Meadows in Ohio.
"I'm happy with the events I played," said Diaz, a two-time LPGA winner and Solheim Cup star. She has the same plan for next year, playing in about a half dozen tournaments while her children are on break from school.
