[Women's Golf] Trevecca Women's Golf 2nd at Great Midwest Fall Invite, Rachael McMahan Leads Field

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's golf teams opened play at the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Fall Invitational today and return to the course for the final round on Tuesday at the Findlay Country Club.

 

Trevecca's Rachel McMahan is tied for first with an opening round even-par 72. She is tied with Makenzie Torres of the University of Findlay. The 72 for McMahan is tied for the sixth-best round in Trevecca history. The duo owns a four-stroke lead over the rest of the field.

 

Trevecca is second with an opening round 319, which is a top-20 round in program history.

TREVECCA TEAM

Rachael McMahan (SO/Knoxville, TN) follows up her 2017 Great Midwest performance when she finished just behind last years winner and now Trevecca alum, Alexa Rippy. Lexi Shaw is tied for 8th with an 80 and Madalyn Hembree (FR/Chattanooga, TN) is 14th with an 82. Teagan Perry (SO/Decherd, TN) with and 85 and Brynn Craven (SO/McMinnville, TN) (93) also contributed to the Trevecca team effort.

 

TOURNAMENT FIELD REPORT

The host team, the University of Findlay, leads the field with an opening round 305. They are 14 strokes up on Trevecca. Malone University is third and 14 strokes back of Trevecca at 333.  

 

TREVECCA INDIVIDUAL

Rachael McMahan led the field in par three scoring (one-under par, 2.75) and par four scoring (even par, 4.0). Madalyn Hembree tied for third in par four scoring (two-over par, 4.20). Lexie Shaw (SO/Knoxville, TN) is sixth in the field in par four scoring (four-over par, 4.40). Three Trojans are tied for sixth in the field on the par five holes averaging 5.25 (one-over par).

 

Rachael McMahan is tied for most birdies in the field with three. Madalyn Hembree is third with two birdies. McMahan is tied for the most pars in the field with 12.

 

TOURNAMENT LEADERBOARD DETAILS 

Krisitna Kniesly (Findlay) is in third (76) while Christina Williams (Malone) is at five-over par (77) in fourth place.   

 

WHAT'S NEXT

Round two on Tuesday before visiting Springfield, IL for the University of Southern Indiana Fall Preview September 30 and October 1 at Panther Creek Golf Club. The Trevecca Music City Invitational at the Old Hickory Country Club in Old Hickory, TN on October 23-24.
