[Women's Golf] Trevecca Women's Golf Moves to Third @ Southern Indiana Classic, Hembree 8th

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's golf team turned in the best team score in the final round of the 12-team field at the 22nd Screaming Eagle Golf Classic. The event is hosted by the University of Southern Indiana. Trevecca finished third overall with freshmen Madalyn Hembree (FR/Chattanooga, TN) placing eighth with an 80-77 157 total.

 

ESSENTIALS

There were 12 teams and 66 golfers competing in the event played at the Cambridge Golf Course, which played to a par of 72 over 5862 yards.

Trevecca gained on every team on the field with day two's lowest round (312), which ties the team for the seventh lowest round in program history ... the two-day total of 643 is the 12th best in school history

After the first round, Trevecca (330) sat six strokes back of second place William Jewell College, four back of third place McKendree University, and just one back of fourth place Rockhurst University ... Southern Indiana, the eventual winner, led the field with a 308, 17 strokes ahead of second place William Jewell

 

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

Grace Davis of Southern Indiana is the tournament Medalist with a tournament best five over par 68-81=149.

 

Fro Trevecca, Lexie Shaw (SO/Knoxville, TN) finished with a 75 on Tuesday, moving up the standings to finish one stroke back of Hebree and ninth overall with a 83-76=158.

 

Shaw's 158 is her career-best total over a two round event. Shaw's Tuesday round 75 is one off of her career low single round total ... Brynn Craven (SO/McMinnville, TN) recorded her best career round with a 78 on the second day ... Craven also tied her best career two-day total ... Rachael McMahan (SO/Knoxville, TN) turned in a two-day total that equals her fourth best performance at Trevecca ... Teagan Perry (SO/Decherd, TN) recorded her second best and fourth best career rounds and turned in her best career two-round total

 

Madalyn Hembree finished first in par five storing with an even-par performance and fifth in the tournament in par three scoring with a 3.13 average for a one-over total ... with four birdies Hembree finished third in the field and had 21 pars, making her fourth in the field ... Lexi Shaw finished with a 5.25 average on the par five holes for a two-over total, which placed her tied for seventh in the event ... Teagan Perry is one of two with an eagle in the tournament and was 12th in par three scoring with a two-over total ... Sophie Vinson (FR/Manchester, TN) played as an individual for the Trojans and finished 48th overall

WHAT'S NEXT

The Trojans next play September 18-19 at the Great Midwest Fall Tournament at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. The event is hosted by conference newcomer University of Findlay. The Findlay CC hosted the NCAA Division II National Championships last spring. Trevecca alum Alexa Rippy made the field and became he first Trojans to make the national tournament field last spring in Findlay.
