[Women's Golf] Trevecca Women's Golf Fifth, Madalyn Hembree Eighth @ Screaming Eagle Classic
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's golf team opened its 2017-2018 season at the 22nd Screaming Eagle Golf Classic hosted by the University of Southern Indiana. Cambridge Golf Course is hosting the event. Trevecca sits fifth of 12 teams after Sunday's first round. Freshmen Madalyn Hembree leads the Trojan effort in eighth place (of 66 golfers) with an opening round 80.

TEAM TRENDS

One stroke back of Hembree, playing in her first collegiate tournament, is teammate Rachael McMahan in 11th place with an 81 … Grace Davis of Southern Indiana is six strokes up on the field with an opening round 68, the only golfer under par … Rachael McMahan shot even-par on the par three holes, tied for third best in the event … McMahan tied for the low average on the par five holes with a one-under total … Lexi Shaw turned in an 83 for the Trojans. Teagan Perry (87) and Brynn Craven (91) rounded out the team effort … Sophie Vinson, playing as an individual, carded a 91 for the Trojans and is in 48th place
WHAT'S NEXT
The second and final round begins with an 9:00 AM shotgun start on Monday. The Trojans next play September 18-19 at the Great Midwest Fall Tournament at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. The event is hosted by conference newcomer University of Findlay. The Findlay Country Club is where the NCAA Division II National Championships were held last year with Trevecca Alexa Rippy in the field.
