Emotional win, and a big loss, at NEWGA golf championship
Knowing she grabbed a part of history, first-place finisher Nancy Kroll of Pinehaven was emotional recording her sixth victory in the Northeastern Women's Golf Association championship Wednesday at Schuyler Meadows Country Club. But it was 30-year-old Rachel Barlette of Shaker Ridge who choked up immediately following her third-place finish. Barlette and her Shaker Ridge golf family lost a friend when club member Jana Behe-Kinneston, 40, died suddenly Saturday while golfing with her husband. "Yesterday I saw a butterfly on the seventh green fluttering around my ball and I was thinking, 'Oh it has to be Jana.' It gave me chills," Barlette said. "Jana is the one who wanted to get me more involved in golf and golf associations.
