Ok, I'll try. Did the players reach any kind of agreement on the status of the hole in question before talking to the committee? If A is making a claim, it sounds like B did not agree to loss of hole. In that case the committee would rule that B won the hole. I don't believe it makes a difference who is making the claim. The players could not reach an agreement, instead bringing the issue to the committee.JMC wrote:Good Morning to all

"In an 18-hole match between A and B, A's ball strikes the flagstick which was attended by B. A immediately says to B "You didn't remove the flagstick. You are penalised loss of hole!". I am asking the question because I remember having seen once a ruling from the R&A (unfortunately I can no longer find a copy) stating that once a Referee intervenes in a case, the fact that the opponent didn't submit a claim is irrelevant.
This would imply that in above situation, A would lose the hole if a Referee had intervened.
In above situation it is not a Referee that intervenes but the Committee.
My question: because the intervention emanates by the Committee and not by a Referee does it mean that the hole is halved or A would still lose the hole?

The one caveat it is assumed player B did not purposely cause A's ball to strike the flagstick.
