Steph and Ayesha Curry fire back on Twitter at those who doubted his golf game
The Currys united to trash those who didn’t think Steph would be a success in his golf debut.
Stephen Curry made his golf debut in the Web.com Tour's Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae on Thursday. Curry is a two-time NBA MVP and one of the best shooters to touch a basketball court. What does he know about a golf course? In the days leading up to his first swing, Twitter wasn’t having it at all:

Even we counted him out to start the day.
But just like his game on the court, Steph hooped all over the course, too. Curry finished a 4-over 74 in Round 1. That tied for 146th place out of 156 golfers, but for a guy whose primary focus is a different sport in itself, that’s not too shabby at all.
Curry’s first round was so impressive, he swayed pro golfer Steve Wheatcroft, who felt there was “no chance in hell” the basketball star broke a score of 76:
Hell hath frozen over

I'll be the first to admit when I was wrong. I was WAY wrong on @StephenCurry30 this week. VERY impressive out there. Beat some good players

And Ayesha Curry, of course, added her own touch. Steph was able to succeed because he believed in himself:
Word of the day! A person should never be subjected to being just one thing! #noceilings live your dreams! Believe in YOURSELF, always. #74 https://t.co/00iAXDIekP

Curry’s Thursday play was so impressive, pro golfers came out from the cut to applaud him on Twitter:
Gutsy day from @StephenCurry30, proved A LOT of people wrong. Dude has game! And I'm sneaky glad he bogied 18 so I didn't tie him today https://t.co/duASL4GEb5

.@StephenCurry30 making 3 birdies and shooting +4 is super impressive. Great golfer but things can be tougher inside the ropes. Well done

Curry’s former teammate Kent Bazemore, now with the Hawks, also chimed in:
We’ve all been doubted before ya heard me! #499

The Ellie Mae Classic wasn’t televised, nor was there a live stream to watch online. But after the hype that surrounded Curry’s first go-round, they may want to rethink their broadcast strategy moving forward.
