[Golf] Men's and Women's Golf Releases Fall Schedule

Montreat, NC - The Montreat College men's and women's golf teams have announced their schedule for the fall of 2017, which includes 5 events for both teams.

"I am really excited about our upcoming schedule", said Head Coach John Sullivan. "I believe, for the first time in the history of our program, we have the opportunity to play some championship courses and see some elite competition. Our players will be exposed to different layouts, conditions, and tournament tests that will ultimately make them better, more experienced golfers."

The men kick off their fall campiagn as they travel along with several other AAC member rivals to Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island, GA as they compete in the Coastal Georgia Invitational on Sept.10th & 11th. They continue the Georgia swing with stops at Reinhardt and Point University in AAC conference action. Wrapping up in October, the team will travel to Tennessee National for the Bojangles Intercollegiate tournament on October 16th & 17th before closing out the season at the St. Andrews Invitational at Scotch Meadows in Laurinburg on Oct. 23rd & 24th, where junior Ander Crenshaw secured his first individual medalist win last year after an impressive final round of 68 to claim victory by 4 strokes.

The ladies also kick off their season in the peach state, as they compete in the SCAD Atlanta Invitational in Covington on Sept. 18th & 19th, followed by the Reinhardt Invitational in Canton on Sept. 25th & 26th. They will also see stops in southeast Kentucky at Wasioto Winds Golf Club and North Carolina (St. Andrews University), while wrapping up at Tennessee-Wesleyan for the Bulldog Fall Invitational in Athens on Oct. 30th & 31st.

"I think by the time the spring season rolls around, we will have a good idea of how we stand in our conference and hopefully we can begin making a run at national rankings", Sullivan said.

Montreat returns 7 student-athletes on the men's side, along with 5 on the women's, including sophomore Sara Gwillim, who is coming off a stellar freshman year where she secured 2 top 10 finishes, including a 2nd place finish in the Cavalier Spring Invitational. The teams will also welcome an impressive recruiting class for the 2017-2018 season.
