[Men's Golf] Golf Ends Season at SAC Championship

4.20.10 - Ardmore, Okla.- The Mid-America Christian University golf team wrapped up their season with a 935 team score and an eighth place finish at the Sooner Athletic Conference championship on Tuesday at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club.

Oklahoma City University, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, took home the title with an 834 three-round total. The Stars also had the individual winner, Michael Palmer, carding a 68 in the final round with an overall score of 203.

No. 2 Oklahoma Christian, No. 8 Wayland Baptist and No. 13 Southern Nazarene finished in a three-way tie for second behind the Stars with an 850 team score.

Lubbock Christian finished fifth with an 885-team score. Oklahoma Baptist ended the tournament in sixth; three strokes behind the Chaps (888) and Rogers State took seventh with a 905.

The Evangels finished five strokes ahead of John Brown who turned in a 940 in three-rounds. Northwestern rounded out the pool with a 980 in 10th place.

Sophomore James Wiginton led the Evangels posting a 73 on the final day with a 221 three-day total, tied for 23rd.

Sophomore Karl Griffith closed with an 82 to finish with a 233 in a tie for 41st.

Sophomore Matt Costilow came in three shots behind his teammates at 236 with a 79 in the final round to finish tied for 44th.

Freshman Jacob McElhany carded an 83 to stand alone in 48th at 246, while sophomore Cody Mosley posted an 87 giving him a 250 three-round total good for 52nd.
