The action rolls on at Royal Birkdale.

Friday is the second day of competition at the 146th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. The golf starts in the wee hours of the morning on the American East Coast, and it continues into the early afternoon. That’ll mean a late night if you want to watch the players teeing off earliest, but those in the later groups will still be on the course (or yet to tee off) by the time American audiences have woken up.

Starting at 1:30 a.m. ET and running until 4 p.m., Golf Channel will broadcast the action live from Northwest England. You can stream it on the Golf Channel app or official site. Friday is the last full day of the tournament to be broadcast on Golf Channel. On Saturday and Sunday, the early mornings will be there, but the action will shift to NBC for most of the day. This year marks The Open’s 10th trip to Royal Birkdale, where it was last held in 2008 and won by Padraig Harrington. Even though it’s not all that long, Birkdale is a difficult track in ways that are typical of the courses in Open rota. It has deep bunkers, and rough weather has the potential to make the best players in the world miserable.

There’s a chance that winning the Claret Jug here will be about survival more than anything. Everyone’s quest to do that continues in these groups.
