Mal's Blues Bar – Yamba Golf and Country Club’s new monthly blues event set to entertain audiences from Yamba and surrounds starting this October!
Yamba Golf and Country Club is set to become ‘Blues Central’ when the Club launches its new, monthly Live Blues Session, Mal’s Blues Bar –Invitational with the first Sunday Session to take place on Sunday 25 October from 4.30pm at Yamba Golf and Country Club.
Mal Eastick will be the resident artist for the monthly Blues Session to be held at the Club, Mal being one of Australia's finest blues rock guitarists. His passionate, explosive and soulful style has seen him take the stage with acts such as Robert Cray, Los Lobos, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Tommy Emmanuel, Jimmy Barnes and Kevin Borich, just to name a few.
The Mal’s Blues Bar- Invitational events will provide audiences with free, high quality blues performances with a full band and production, on the last Sunday of every month from 4.30pm on the back deck at Yamba Golf and Country Club.
The ‘Invitational’ part of the name is as it suggests, an opportunity each month to catch a special guest that blues legend Mal will invite to perform alongside him as part of the Sunday Session.
“It’s something we have wanted to try for a while and meeting Mal and discovering this fine talent we have available to us here in Yamba provided the incentive to get it up and running. Mal’s Blues Bar is a great opportunity for locals to catch some stunning free performances from Mal and other acts from around the area on a regular basis, in a relaxed environment. With the weather getting warmer the Club’s large back deck overlooking the stunning course will be the perfect place to wind down, relax with friends and family with a drink, enjoy some first class Blues music and grab a great meal,” said CEO of Yamba Golf and Country Club, Luke Stephenson.
Mal and the Club are hopeful it’s a concept locals will enjoy and support. The Club has plans to bring other national and potentially international Blues artists to town for some larger shows with Mal too if the concept is well received in the local community.
Mal has been a long time performer and in addition to playing with some of the best acts of the Australian music scene Mal has more recently performed at high profile events such as Broadbeach Blues Festival, Bimbadgen Blues festival, two Thredbo Blues Festivals, and as a guest with Bluezone at the Basement in a guitar show featuring Kevin Borich, Phil Emmanuel, Phil Manning and others.
