Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has disclosed that he will quit national team football if Argentina fails to win the FIFA World Cup title this summer.
The 30-year-old forward powered Albiceleste to a 3-1 win over Ecuador last October to qualify for the 2018 edition of the championship which kicks off on June 14.
Having won the FIFA U20 World Cup title in 2005 and the Olympics gold medal in 2008, the Barca star has missed out of every major title with the team.

Losing the 2014 World Cup by a lone goal to Germany in the extra time in Brazil, and has finished runners up three times in the Copa America tourney in 2007, 2015 and 2016.
Meanwhile, the 2008 China Olympic gold medal winner has insisted that his aim is to win the title before hanging his national team boot.
He further stressed that they are hoping for a better luck on their side, adding that they did all they could but still failed in Brazil four years ago.
"We feel that, if we won't win the World Cup in Russia, the only way will be to give up the national team," Messia told La Cornisa.

“I dream of winning the trophy in Russia. My wish is to live something similar to Brazil 2014.
“You can do everything OK and fail, like Argentina in Brazil.”
Lionel Messi and Argentina are drawn alongside Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria in Group D, while the Albiceleste will kick off their campaign this summer against Iceland.
The 30-year-old has scored 61 goals in 123 matches for the national team but senior international honours have so far escaped him.
He scored one of the goals that helped Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 on Sunday, March 18 as they continue to their unbeaten run in the Spanish League this season.
