Tottenham fans may not like what Thomas Frank just said about Pedro Porro controversy
Thomas Frank has reacted to Pedro Porro’s controversial social media post after his antics on Saturday were criticised by Tottenham fans.
Some Spurs fans were angry at Frank for suggesting that booing Guglielmo Vicario during the game was unacceptable, but it is Porro who has really attracted the supporters’ ire.
After the final whistle against Fulham, Porro was caught screaming at Lucas Bergvall and attempted to stop the Swede from going over to applaud the fans.
Rather than apologising for his actions, Porro took to social media to defend his behaviour, insisting that he and his Tottenham teammates felt disrespected, and added that he loves the “true Spurs fans.”
Thomas Frank says Pedro Porro’s comment to Tottenham fans was fair
The Tottenham head coach had put Porro’s post-match behaviour down to frustration on Saturday, but he refused to say too much about the Spaniard’s social media post.
He suggested that the right-back is allowed his opinion and termed his post as ‘fair’.
When asked what he thought of Porro’s message to the fans, Frank responded (via the club’s official website): “I think it’s fair. In that sense, the players are individual people who can have their own opinions. I think what he put out there was fair.”
Porro did not say anything out of line
It is not fair for Spurs fans to suggest that they have every right to boo and mock their own players in the middle of a game, but take offence when the players respond with something mildly provocative.
Porro and his Tottenham teammates would be a lot more frustrated at these losses and performances than any of us are.
Despite the criticism the Spaniard is getting from the fan base, one would expect the supporters to get behind him and the other players when they take to the field against Newcastle.
