Tottenham and Fabio Paratici eye £34m centre-back with just five appearances this season
Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves for another busy winter window as interest grows in a centre-back target valued at £34m.
The winter transfer window is fast approaching, with just a few weeks left before it opens on the first of January, and Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be active as they continue to assess the areas that need reinforcing.
There is a belief within the club that attacking depth may need to be strengthened, with several reports indicating that a move could be made to bolster the frontline if the right opportunity presents itself.
However, fresh reports have now linked Tottenham with a centre-back ahead of the winter window as Thomas Frank looks to bolster his ranks for the second half of the season.
Tottenham target Gleison Bremer transfer as Spurs monitor Juventus defender
This report comes from TuttoJuve, which states that Gleison Bremer is a player on Tottenham’s radar.
The centre-back’s time at Juventus has been disrupted by injuries in the last two seasons, which has naturally led to some doubts about his long-term future in Turin.
Spurs, however, are understood to have been pushed forward as an option for the Brazilian centre-back, with the club said to see him as an ‘ideal candidate’ for their backline.
And although Spurs have options at the back with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Takai, Danso, Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies, they are still keeping tabs on Bremer as they weigh up potential additions.
Fabio Paratici’s influence on Spurs pursuit of Gleison Bremer
Fabio Paratici’s return is going to be a boost for Spurs in their pursuit of the Brazil international, as Spurs will now know all about the player’s situation thanks to the Italian, with any transfer effort guided by him.
Bremer’s contract in Turin runs until 2029, and it is believed Tottenham will have to shell out around £34m (€40m) to sign the defender, with Spurs said to be ready to make an offer if the opportunity becomes clearer.
While Juventus are not looking to sell the Brazil international, their stance could change if the right bid is placed on the table, but Tottenham will be mindful of the fact that Bremer has played only five times in all competitions this season and is currently nursing a knee injury after dealing with similar issues previously.
