Patriots’ Will Campbell Teases Injury Return With Exciting Instagram

All signs continue pointing toward Will Campbell playing again this season.

The latest evidence: the rookie tackle’s Instagram.

Campbell, who suffered an MCL sprain during last week’s road win over the Cincinnati Bengals, was placed on in-season injured reserve this week. The fourth-overall pick now must miss at least four games, meaning he’ll be eligible to return for the Week 18 home game against the Miami Dolphins.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has indicated Campbell’s injury absence will be brief, and Campbell sang a similar tune on Friday with the caption for his Instagram post.

“BRB,” Campbell wrote, using shorthand for “be right back.”

The Patriots plan to start veteran Vederian Lowe at left tackle moving forward, beginning with Monday night’s home game against the New York Giants. Rookie seventh-rounder Marcus Bryant will serve as the top backup behind Lowe and right tackle Morgan Moses.

The hope, then, is for Campbell to return for Week 18 and work off any rust before the playoffs. Of course, that optimistic timeline hinges on the success of his recovery.

Following Monday’s matchup with New York, the Patriots will enjoy their bye week before playing games against the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, and Dolphins.
