'He is ready': Amorim confirms £30.5m Man Utd star is set to return vs Palace, fans will be delighted

Manchester United will face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League tomorrow.

Man United head coach Ruben Amorim has delivered major positive news ahead of the clash.

Lisandro Martinez was an unused substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Everton on Monday.

He was part of the squad for the first time since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury against Crystal Palace in February.

When asked whether Martinez was finally ready to step back onto the pitch after weeks of intense rehabilitation, Amorim offered an encouraging update.

The Portuguese head coach said (via ManUtd.com): “If he is on the bench, he is ready. Of course, we need to control his minutes but, if he is on the bench, he is ready to play.”

This news will leave United fans delighted as Martinez is one of the most crucial members of the squad.

The £30.5 million-rated star is tailor-made for the left centre-back role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

He is a proactive defender who can regularly step into midfield to close down his opponents.

He is aggressive and tenacious, two key traits Amorim wants in his centre-backs.

Martinez will also help United play out from the back as he is one of the best ball-playing defenders in the English top flight.

Amorim may not name him in the starting XI yet but could send him on from the bench in the second half to ease him into the action.

Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Harry Maguire remain sidelined due to their injuries, as confirmed by the head coach in the pre-match press conference yesterday.
