Fans Of Jaylen Brown, Celtics Won’t Like Newest NBA MVP Ladder
Boston Celtics fans won’t like the latest Kia MVP ladder published by NBA.com. It’s not Nikola Jokić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Luka Dončić topping the ladder that’s the problem; it’s that Jaylen Brown isn’t included.
Furthermore, while Brown was left off the top 10 list, he didn’t even make the top 15. Below the ladder on NBA.com were “five more” players under consideration: “Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks; Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors; Anthony Edwards, Minnesota Timberwolves; Brandon Ingram, Toronto Raptors; Austin Reaves, Los Angeles Lakers.”
Surely, Jaylen deserves a spot ahead of Victor Wembanyama, who hasn’t played since November 14 due to injury. Brown also has a case to be above a guy like Jalen Johnson.
Brown has the second-highest usage in the NBA right now (behind Luka), and he has the Celtics at 10-8, despite Boston being a team that was widely expected to be out of the playoff picture this year.
Brown is averaging 28.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists this season for the Celtics, and he hasn’t missed a single game. That’s the kind of production and durability that deserves, at the very least, top-10 or top-15 MVP consideration.
The Celtics, by the way, have won five of their last six games. They’ll head to Minnesota for a test on Saturday against Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves.
