Confirmed Man United team news vs Crystal Palace: Amorim reveals shock setback with key trio ruled out
Manchester United are set to travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
They will be desperate to bounce back after a bruising and uninspired 1–0 defeat against Everton in their last outing.
During his pre-match press conference, head coach Ruben Amorim delivered a significant update on the squad’s fitness situation.
He said (via ManUtd.com): “Sesko is going to take a little bit more time.
“It will take a little bit longer and we are taking care of him.
“Harry, the same. I expect to have Matheus in the next one [West Ham United on Thursday], not this one.”
Benjamin Sesko remains sidelined with the knee injury he suffered against Tottenham Hotspur before the November international break.
Harry Maguire is also out after enduring a setback in that same fixture.
A head injury in training forced Matheus Cunha to miss the Everton clash.
It was expected that he would make his return against Palace but Amorim has now confirmed the bad news.
Crystal Palace are notoriously stubborn at home, and Oliver Glasner has turned them into a far more organised and disciplined outfit.
United have scored just once in their last five trips to Selhurst Park and will be desperate to overturn that miserable record.
However, they will have to do it without two of their key attackers, Sesko and Cunha.
Lisandro Martinez was named on the bench on Monday and could finally make his return to the pitch this weekend.
The Portuguese head coach is expected to give him controlled minutes from the bench to help ease him back into competitive action.
