Mike Vrabel’s Heartwarming Demario Douglas, Terrell Jennings Gesture After Patriots Win
For the seventh straight game, Mike Vrabel led the New England Patriots to victory, as the team picked up a big 28-23 win in Week 10 over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While this game was important for the team as a whole, it had a little extra meaning for Demario Douglas and Terrell Jennings.
After his breakout game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, Douglas revealed that he was playing with a heavy heart, as his uncle had been shot and killed the night before the game. Jennings, who grew up alongside Douglas in Jacksonville, Florida, also was grieving after this win.
With this game taking place in Tampa, Florida, both Douglas and Jennings’ families made the trek to Raymond James Stadium for the Patriots’ Week 10 action. Considering everything that both of these families had been through recently, it was likely a great experience for them to go out and watch Douglas and Jennings play on the same team.
After finding out about the loss that Douglas and Jennings were dealing with, Vrabel made it clear that he and the team were intent on doing whatever they could to help out. After this game, Vrabel made good on his word, as he snapped a photo with Douglas and Jennings’ families before heading back to Foxboro.
Douglas finished this game with two catches for 34 yards, while Jennings picked up five yards on four carries before being forced out of the game with a knee injury. At the end of the day, New England managed to earn the win in this one, which is obviously more important than individual statistics.
The Patriots won’t have much time to celebrate this win, because they have a short week ahead of them. N.E. will kick off the NFL’s Week 11 slate with a Thursday Night Football clash against the New York Jets. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.
