Former NFL Quarterback Compares Drake Maye To Tom Brady
Another week, another win for the New England Patriots, as they picked up a 28-23 upset victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10. Once again, second-year quarterback Drake Maye turned in another solid outing to help ensure his squad came out on top when all was said and done.
This wasn’t Maye’s most efficient outing, as he completed just 16 of his 31 pass attempts, but he made his completions count, as he picked up 270 yards and two scores, while also racking up 13 yards on seven carries. He did throw an interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter, but it ended up not coming back to bite the Pats.
Across the NFL, former Patriots legend Tom Brady is considered the gold standard at the quarterback position, and that’s especially true in New England. The fans and the team became accustomed to winning on a near-weekly basis, and with Maye playing at a very high level this season, comparisons between the two are beginning to roll in.
Everyone knows just how dangerous it is to compare someone to Brady, but that didn’t stop former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel from doing so. While he didn’t outright say Maye reminds him of Brady, he did reveal that the level at which the Patriots’ offense is operating is reminiscent of their recent dynastic run.
“I’m not saying he’s Brady, but the way the offense is operating right now, in terms of how they are getting in and out of plays, the shifts and the motions … Just the way the offense is on the field, it does look like the Tom Brady days in terms of how they’re deploying offensively to attack defenses,” Daniel said on “The Dan Patrick Show.”
The fact that Maye is even being mentioned in the same conversation as Brady in year No. 2 in the NFL shows just how good he has been. However, there is still a lot of work to be done for the team this season. The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday Night Football for their Week 11 matchup with the New York Jets.
