Queen's Park 8 Montrose 1 - Under-17s CAS Advanced Youth League

LUKE MOORE scored twice as Queen’s Park under-17 spread a glut of goals throughout the under-17s CAS Advanced Youth squad in the latest big win against Montrose.

The Wee Spiders fired five without reply in the second half to add gloss to a hard-working first half performance for coach Lee Mitchell.

He said: “In the first half Montrose looked dangerous on the counter attack and scored a goal to bring it back to 2-1. We got our two-goal lead back though just before half time to go in 3-1 up.

“We asked the boys to move the ball a little quicker around the edge of the box to create more opportunities and also to be really aggressive when giving it away to stop any counter attacks. I thought they did both aspects really well and we went on to score five more in the second half.

“We’ve been threatening a big result over the last few weeks so it was good to see the team being more clinical this week.

“It’s also really pleasing to see the players continue to dictate possession and show real control within games which is obviously important at every level.”

Luke Moore and Lennox Quail put the home side ahead at Lochinch before Montrose pulled one back, but Caiden Wright converted for a 3-1 half-time lead.

Logan Duffy added his name to the scoresheet in the second half as did under-19s regular Cole Goldie before Moore hit his own second and the Spiders’ sixth.

Substitutes Paul Anderson and Jacob Cunningham notched late on too.

Next up is Partick Thistle, away at Petershill, on Friday night. Kick off 7.30pm

QUEEN’S PARK: Stevenson, Breeds, Browne, Smith, Quail, Lafferty, Wright, Goldie, Kerr, Duffy, Moore.
