Napoli 0-0 Como | Player Ratings – Milinkovic-Savic the hero as lacklustre Partenopei held in stalemate
Napoli were held to a 0-0 draw by a brave Como side who were only denied a shock victory thanks to another huge penalty save from Football Italia’s Man of the Match: Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.
Napoli 0-0 Como – Player Ratings
Napoli: Milinkovic-Savic 7; Di Lorenzo 5.5, Rrahmani 6.5, Buongiorno 6, Spinazzola 5.5 (Gutierrez 6); Zambo Anguissa 6, Gilmour 6 (Elmas 5.5), McTominay 6.5; Politano 5.5, Hojlund 5.5, Neres 5.5 (Lang 6)
Best Napoli player: Vanja Milinkovic-Savic – May have given away the penalty but did brilliantly to save it. Oversaw his defence well against a plucky Como. McTominay was also very good on the night but without Milinkovic-Savic’s penalty save, Napoli would have lost today.
Lowest Napoli rating: David Neres – Started on the left-hand side of the front three today but was largely ineffectual for his 73 minutes on the pitch. Created one decent half-chance but was beaten far too easily both on the ground and in the air.
Coach: Antonio Conte 5.5 – More petulant sideline antics tonight following his war of words with Lautaro Martinez last weekend. The coach was outplayed by his counterpart for a majority of the evening and was fortunate that the saved penalty spared his blushes in what would have been a disappointing home defeat.
Como: Butez 6; Smolcic 6.5 (Posch 6), Ramon 6.5, Kempf N/A (Diego Carlos 6.5), Valle 6; Caqueret 6.5 (Da Cunha 6), Perrone 6; Addai 5.5 (Rodriguez N/A), Paz 6, Diao 6.5; Morata 5 (Douvikas N/A)
Best Como player: Ivan Smolcic – The Croatian right-back had a superb game in defence before coming off with twenty minutes to play. Many of Como’s team worked hard tonight but the 25-year-old was a force in the air and refused to get beaten by the Napoli attack.
Lowest Como rating: Alvaro Morata – Can’t help but feel sorry for the Spaniard, still in search of his first Serie A goal for Como. Tonight, the forward had a penalty saved by Milinkovic-Savic and was taken off with ten minutes to play. Disappointing night for the former Milan man.
Coach: Cesc Fabregas 6.5 – Not without guilt himself for touchline antics but impressed with his tactics on the pitch. His Como side really took the game to Napoli and things could have turned out differently if Morata had converted his penalty.
