Ten-man Seagulls beaten by Barry

0 7

COLWYN BAY paid the price for a disastrous seven minutes spell in the first half as their five match unbeaten run was ended with a 1-4 home defeat to Barry Town United in front of the S4C cameras.

After taking the lead, the Bay gifted the visitors two goals in quick succession and then had skipper Lewis Sirrell red carded in that seven minute period and never recovered from that triple blow.

They also lost Jay Owen through injury before half-time in what turned out to be a Halloween horror night.

It started so well with them taking the lead on 13 minutes when a long throw from Aron Williams was touched on by Sol Forde for Nathan Peate to score from close range, but it all very quickly went wrong.

A mix-up between Sirrell and keeper Alex Brown on the edge of the area allowed Ieuan Owen to slot the ball into an unguarded net on 20 minutes for the equaliser and five minutes later Owen was gifted a second goal when Alex Brown spilled a shot from outside the area.

Lewis Sirrell then got a straight red card on 27 minutes for a challenge on Owen to leave the Bay to play the rest of the game with 10 men.

They managed to stay in the game until the 67th minute when Ollie Hulbert fired home Barry’s third, and Robbie Willmott added Barry’s fourth 11 minutes later with a deflected shot that left Alex Brown wrong-footed/

Jamie Cumming hit the post with a header from a Jordan Davies corner in Bay’s only real threat on goal in the second half.

COLWYN BAY: Alex Brown, Nathan Peate, Lewis Sirrell, Sol Forde, Jamie Cumming, Jay Owen (Uniss Kargbo 45), Jordan Davies (Aaron Williams 80), Louis Robles (Owen Davies 80), Ethan Roberts, Aron Williams (Sam Hart 81), Aeron Edwards (Rhys Nash 87). Unused subs: Luke Murphy, Ben Hoban.

Attendance: 711
