Nuggets’ Nikola Jokić Has Chance To Make Triple-Double History On Friday

Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokić has already accomplished more than most NBA players dream of. The future Hall of Fame center, still only 30 years old, has bagged three MVP awards, an NBA Finals trophy, and and seven All-NBA selections.

Jokić is also third on the all-time triple-doubles list with 168, behind Oscar Robertson (181) and Russell Westbrook (203). One thing Robertson and Westbrook never did, though, is start an NBA season with five consecutive triple-doubles.

Well, per Forbes’ Evan Sidery, The Joker has the chance to do just that on Friday night when his Nuggets visit the Portland Trail Blazers for an NBA Cup Group Stage game.

Jokić and the Nuggets are 3-1 to start the season with Joker averaging 20.3 points, 14.5 rebounds and 11.3 assists.

Denver had a busy offseason, reuniting with Bruce Brown (who was on the 2023 title team), and swapping out Michael Porter Jr. for Cameron Johnson, which was universally seen as an upgrade.

Now in his 11th NBA season, Jokić has always been a pillar of durability and all-around impact for the Nuggets. With a ton of buzz rightfully surrounding the Oklahoma City Thunder as they look to repeat as NBA champs, you can never rule out Jokić when the postseason rolls around. When he’s on, he’s still arguably the biggest problem for NBA defenses to deal with.
