Matteo Salamon was called into action early on. The R’s keeper pushed away a 25-yard free kick and the ball was then cleared to safety.
The visitors then took the lead on six minutes after a goal-kick had found a Tigers player. Hugh Parker proceeded to smash the ball into the net from a good 20-yards.
And they almost added a second just six minutes later. After receiving a ball in from the right, Pharrell Brown curled his strike at goal, which the R’s keeper did well to keep out.
Then, from a free kick, Noah Wadsworth burst down the wing and his cross/shot just evaded the target.
On 23 minutes, the home side’s first attempt on target lacked power and a drinks break followed soon after.
Mr Breen booked Bobby-Dean Moore for an awful challenge from behind on Archie O’Brien, which left the R’s No.10 down for some time! He limped off but was able to come back on again soon after.
Calvin Okike was the next player to be cautioned after a tug on Jake Coomes’ shirt. Caleb Dyke’s free kick resulted in a further one but was wrongly awarded to the visitors!
Zane Myers’ low strike flashed just wide of the upright.
Fraser Neill was shown a yellow card for a heavy challenge on Nathan Tinsdale.
And just before the interval, Zane Myers’ shot was well saved by Matteo Salamon. Half-time: 0-1.
For the second-half Ashley Trujillo and Jake Coomes switched wings.
The next player to be booked was the Hull captain, Hugh Parker.
Zane Myers’ free kick into the box ended up being deflected for a corner.
Matteo Salamon did well to get down to grab the ball whilst under pressure, and as he cleared it Harry Revil was cautioned.
Jaiden Putman’s excellent run concluded with the R’s full-back being brought down and in need of some attention.
Paul Furlong made two changes on 63 minutes, which saw the introduction of Alex Aoraha and Kalen Brunson at the expense of Fraser Neill and Ashley Trujillo respectively.
Pharrell Brown then smashed the ball just wide of the target.
After Jake Coomes had pulled-up, the Rangers physio came over to treat him, and on 68 minutes Kobe Agbude replaced Jaiden Putman.
A minute later, Callum Yam knocked Kaleb Dyke’s long-range attempt onto the post.
And then on 71 minutes, Ridwan Hassan’s cross from the right picked out an unmarked Archie O’Brien, whose header came off the crossbar.
Zane Myers was the fifth Tigers player to go into the book.
The final change came on 80 minutes when Timothy Akindileni made way for Gabriel Cuthbert.
As the R’s looked for an equaliser, Jake Leahy curled his shot just wide of the target.
The Rangers goal came very close to the final whistle with an absolute screamer from Kaleb Dyke at the Loft End.
Hull almost snatched a dramatic winner just seconds from the end, with an attempt that narrowly whizzed past the far-post.
