Tottenham second half player ratings vs Reading – 9/10 for teenage wonderkid

The referee has now sounded his whistle for the final time at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in Reading, and we have got our second-half Tottenham Hotspur player ratings in.

Tottenham Hotspur have now completed their first full ninety minutes under Thomas Frank, with the pre-season friendly against Reading ending in a 2-0 victory to the Lilywhites.

In the second half, Frank made eleven substitutes, taking off every single player who featured in the first forty-five, just as he alluded to in his press conference.

We have now rated the Tottenham players from 0-10 based on their second-half performance against Reading.

Guglielmo Vicario – The Italian shotstopper replaced Antonin Kinsky in the second forty-five and had made a couple of saves to help secure Tottenham’s clean sheet, as Reading grew into the game as it went on. 8.

Ben Davies – There was a switch in the tactical setup in the second half, with Tottenham looking to build up with a back three, and with Davies on the pitch, he was the one who completed the three from the right this time. It was a solid display from the veteran full-back. 7.

Luka Vuskovic – The 18-year-old Croat made a name for himself in Westerlo as not just a defender who can defend, but one who has an eye for goal. In less than ten minutes in his first game in a Tottenham shirt, Vuskovic already showed his attacking threat, grabbing a goal, an assist, and a good block from a shot that was sure to threaten Vicario. 9.

Micky van de Ven – Van de Ven was not called into action as much since he came on from the bench in the second half. 7.

Djed Spence – Spence featured in his preferred left-back spot in the second half after replacing Pedro Porro. The full-back was the more advanced of the two full-backs and made overlapping runs beyond Kudus. He had a good chance to make it three, but his shot in the box was saved by the Reading shotstopper. 7.

Yves Bissouma – Bissouma came on in place of Rodrigo Bentancur in the second forty-five and looked to keep Tottenham ticking in the middle of the field. He did, however, put pressure on Spurs a few times due to his loose touches. 7.

Lucas Bergvall – First appearance for Bergvall since he picked up an injury last season in May. The midfielder played as the second in Frank’s pivot in the second half, and it was a good forty-five for the Swede. 7.

Jamie Donley – The Tottenham youngster featured as the ten in the second half. He had a good chance in the half, when Kudus’ cutback found him, but his shot was deflected. 7.

Heung-min Son – Son was used as a touchline winger in the second forty-five and did not look his sharpest, with a few loose touches and moments of brilliance coming few and far between. He looked a bit off the pace. 6.

Will Lankshear – The young forward showed good striker’s instinct by reacting fastest to Vuskovic’s glancing header from Kudus’ delivery. Solid header for a youngster who could do with a confidence boost after his loan spell at West Brom. 8.

Mohammed Kudus – The £55m signing from West Ham United replaced Brennan Johnson and straight away got into the thick of it. His delivery from a corner led to Lankshear’s goal, while his good decision-making in the final third led to an assist for Vuskovic’s goal. He played in the inside forward role on the right, occupying the central areas in the pockets. A lot of skills and great flicks too. A solid debut performance. 9.
