Terry McLaurin Social Media ‘Like’ Sure To Fuel Trade Speculation
Terry McLaurin is not seeking a trade from the Washington Commanders, as he publicly confirmed last week. But that doesn’t mean the star wide receiver couldn’t get to that point.
Frustration clearly is building with McLaurin, who is entering the final year of his contract and reportedly seeking a deal that pays him $30 million or more annually.
The most recent example? A silly-but-perhaps-telling social media “like.”
The organization posted a series of four photos to X, formerly known as Twitter, shouting out four Commanders players who got married or engaged during the offseason. But the post did not include a photo of McLaurin, who was among those to get married.
It was not lost on anyone.
One Commanders fan quote-tweeted the post with the caption: “absolutely disrespectful.” The comment was in reference to not including McLaurin’s photo in the post.
The fan’s response was “liked” by McLaurin’s account.
It’s worth noting the Commanders shared a congratulations post for McLaurin months ago, but that was prior to the wideout’s discontent.
In this day and age where social media activity is used as a way to confirm an athlete’s happiness or misery, the events seemed to fuel McLaurin’s fire. Fans noticed.
Chances are receiver-needy teams, including the New England Patriots and others, will too.
