Boost for Tottenham as Yoane Wissa keen on move away from Brentford

0 8

Tottenham Hotspur have received a big boost in their pursuit of Brentford star Yoane Wissa.

According to BBC Sport, the Bees are keen to agree a new deal with Wissa but he prefers a move away from the West London club this summer.

With Bryan Mbeumo expected to join Manchester United soon, Brentford do not want to lose another top player in the same Premier League transfer window

They have attempted to open contract talks with Wissa but it emerges he doesn’t want to discuss new terms and privately has made his intentions to explore options elsewhere clear.

Tottenham are in the market for a new striker this summer. Dominic Solanke did well last season as he scored 16 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.

But they want more competition for the England international by bringing in a new centre-forward.

Spurs believe Wissa to be an ideal option but they face competition from Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, who also have a firm interest in the DR Congo international.

Forest submitted an offer for the 28-year-old earlier this month, but that was turned down by Brentford

The Bees are understood to value Wissa at more than £50 million, despite the player having one year left on his current deal.

The forward is a Premier League-proven performer who struck 20 goals and provided five assists in 39 matches last season.

Wissa has been at Brentford since 2021 when he joined the club from Lorient in a deal worth around £8.5m. He has scored 49 goals and registered 13 assists in 149 total games.
