Tottenham's lack of bid for £50m star has left Premier League club surprised
Brentford have been left surprised by Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to start the new season with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison as the two main strikers, amid transfer rumours.
Over the last two weeks, Spurs Web has relayed several reports stating that Tottenham are pushing ahead with a move for Yoane Wissa.
It was suggested by some sources that Spurs were ready to start negotiations with Brentford over Wissa, but that has not happened so far.
A couple of days ago, it emerged that Newcastle United are ready to enter the race for Wissa, who is allegedly valued at £50m by Brentford.
Tottenham look set to pass up on Yoane Wissa
GiveMeSport say that Tottenham Hotspur have made a surprise decision not to push ahead with a move for the 28-year-old.
It is explained that the Lilywhites were expected to hold talks for Wissa, with Thomas Frank being a big fan of the centre-forward.
However, Tottenham appear ready to let the opportunity to recruit the Bees star pass them by, with the club now expected to begin the season with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison as their options upfront.
The change in stance from the North Londoners has now opened the door for Newcastle to wrap up a deal for Wissa after the Magpies failed in their efforts to land Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike.
Eddie Howe’s men are now upping the ante in their pursuit of the former Lorient man, and their chances have been boosted as Spurs have given no indications of preparing to go head-to-head for his signature.
Brentford surprised by Tottenham’s inaction on Wissa
GiveMeSport reveal that influential figures at the Gtech Community Stadium expected Spurs to make an approach for Wissa and are surprised that it has not come so far.
The outlet adds that the 28-year-old was also keen to reunite with Thomas Frank at N17, but he now looks set to be deprived of the chance to do so.
Some sources have suggested over recent days that Tottenham may make a move for Nice striker Evann Guessand instead of the Brentford star.
