Sources: €60m star’s agents have “begun talks” with Arsenal, Chelsea & Tottenham

The agents of RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons have begun talks with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham over a potential summer transfer.

Well-placed sources with ties to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that Simons is available for around €60m this summer and is keen on a move to the Premier League.

For now, initial talks have started over a move to London, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all being sounded out as options for the Netherlands international.

“The player’s agents have begun talks with Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal,” one source told us, which was later confirmed by another source.

However, it is also understood that the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United have some interest in Simons and are keeping an eye on the situation.

Barcelona also looked like an option at one point, but a deal is now considered unaffordable for the Catalan giants due to their ongoing financial issues.

Liverpool and Manchester City also had some long-standing admiration for Simons, but ended up moving for different targets in the form of Florian Wirtz and Rayan Cherki, respectively.

Interestingly, some sources have suggested that there are reservations among clubs about the 22-year-old’s attitude and professionalism, which might influence how much teams are willing to pay for him.

Xavi Simons transfer makes sense for Arsenal and Chelsea

Both Arsenal and Chelsea look in need of a top attacking midfield talent like Simons, who can operate centrally or out wide to good effect.

The former PSG youngster finished with 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season, and could add some much-needed spark to Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Arsenal looked a bit stale and predictable at times last season, so Simons could prove to be an upgrade on attacking midfielders like Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have already strengthened with Jamie Gittens this summer, but might perhaps have room for another similar player as Noni Madueke has just left, while others like Joao Felix could follow, and Mykhailo Mudryk is suspended.
