Man Utd now have 'verbal agreement' to sign €100m Spanish star - report
Manchester United could sign a new midfielder during the ongoing transfer window.
The Red Devils have had a relatively quiet summer, but there could be plenty of activity over the coming weeks.
United have so far signed Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, but Bryan Mbeumo is expected to join in the coming days.
A new midfielder could be the next priority, and journalist Daniele Longo claims that Javi Guerra has a ‘verbal agreement’ with United.
The Red Devils have yet to finalise a potential fee with Valencia, but the player has now handed them a big transfer boost.
Guerra, who has entered the last two years of his Valencia contract, is ‘leaning towards’ declining a renewal at the Spanish outfit.
United handed boost as Guerra plans to follow Mosquera out of Valencia
Valencia recently parted ways with centre-back Cristhian Mosquera, who had entered the last year of his contract.
The La Liga outfit had no choice but to sanction his cut-price transfer to Arsenal this month.
The club are now facing a similar situation with Guerra. The 22-year-old signed a new long-term deal in May 2023, with a hefty release clause of €100 million.
However, with under two years remaining on his contract, Los Che are likely to accept a significantly lesser fee. United could capitalise on the situation to sign him.
Guerra is a central midfielder known for his defensive traits. He made almost five recoveries per league game last season with 1.4 tackles and 3.5 duels won. He chipped in with six goal contributions.
The Spaniard still has to improve his distribution, but United could pursue a deal for him due to his raw potential. With the right guidance, he could become a quality box-to-box midfielder in future.
Arsenal recently signed Mosquera for €15m plus add-ons from Valencia. The Spanish club are eyeing €25m for Guerra, but United should be optimistic of landing him for €20m upfront this summer.
