Red Sox’s Alex Cora Witnessed Viral Coldplay Moment
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora witnessed history on Wednesday.
It’s completely inconsequential history that really has nothing to do with him and only lives on the internet, but history, nonetheless.
Cora, on his final day of freedom during the 2025 MLB All-Star break, decided to get out of the house and attend Coldplay’s concert at Gillette Stadium — where he was one of many to experience what would soon be the year’s most viral moment.
Andy Byron, CEO of a software development company Astronomer, was supposedly identified as one member of an awkward jumbotron moment. Coldplay’s Chris Martin was doing commentary on members of the crowd, a common occurrence at his shows, when the person identified as the tech executive was shown on screen cuddling up with a woman that — whoops — was not his wife. It’s all conjecture as of publication, but social media sleuths are pretty sure the woman also works at Astronomer as the head of HR, which is just beautifully ironic.
You can come to your own conclusions after watching the video yourself.
Cora, as we mentioned before, was also at the concert and (kind of) reacted to the moment when speaking with media members prior to Friday’s series-opening contest with the Chicago Cubs.
“I was actually at the [Coldplay] concert,” Cora said through giggles. “It was fun.”
It’s probably not so funny to those directly involved, but the reaction was so strong it’s hard not to laugh at how ludicrous the whole thing is.
