He Did What?! NFLPA Head Made Insane Decision Before Quitting
NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell Jr. — the former one, anyway — abruptly resigned from his post on Thursday.
It’s not for the reason we all expected, though.
Howell had come under fire over the last several weeks for working as a paid, part-time consultant for a private equity firm that has been seeking minority ownership in the league’s franchises, but refused to resign. The NFLPA even backed him up, but things changed with a revelation that came after journalists started digging deeper.
Howell’s resignation came after an outside investigator hired by the union received documents this week showing he sought reimbursement from the union for two visits to strip clubs, according to ESPN.
No, that isn’t a joke.
ESPN’s report says the executive was picked up by a car service at Fort Lauderdale International Airport on Nov. 2, 2023, made at stop at Tootsie’s Cabaret — which bills itself as the world’s largest strip club — and was driven home to his luxury condominium roughly seven hours later.
How insanely bold can one person be?
Howell later accompanied two union employees to the Magic City strip club in Atlanta in 2025, looking to charge the union for $2,426 that included cash withdrawals and “VIP room” visits.
Howell’s expense report claimed it was a “Player Engagement Event to support & grow our Union.”
The NFLPA obviously wasn’t pleased with the revelations, which came shortly before the “voluntary” resignation of a man they’d backed just one week prior.
