Man United finally reach agreement with PL rivals for 20-goal star
Manchester United have taken a decisive step towards making the second marquee signing of this summer.
The Athletic have revealed that United reached an agreement with Brentford to sign forward Bryan Mbeumo.
United will pay an initial £65 million plus a maximum of £6m in bonuses.
The Red Devils will be paying the initial fee in four instalments which could be considered a huge win.
Six tense weeks of negotiations saw both clubs dig deep, but patience paid off as yesterday’s audacious third bid finally broke the deadlock.
Tottenham Hotspur made a spirited move to lure the forward to north London, but Mbeumo’s heart was set on basking in the Old Trafford spotlight.
Mbeumo will be a fantastic signing, considering he can seamlessly adapt to the right-sided number 10 spot.
At the age of 25, United are signing a proven Premier League player who is set to enter his prime.
He enjoyed a starring 2024-25 season, netting 20 goals and eight assists.
United have already made the swoop for former Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha.
Cunha and Mbeumo are expected to take the left and right number 10 positions in a 3-4-2-1 formation.
The Cameroon international is more than just a player suited to a back three.
Over the last 2-3 years, he has shown the skillset to shine in other positions.
With the deal now agreed, Mbeumo is likely to travel with the rest of Amorim’s squad to the United States.
The deal has taken some time to get over the line but the Red Devils have now added two quality stars to their attack that misfired last season.
