BBC - Amorim now leaves Man Utd star out of pre-season tour, he’s not expected to be at OT next season
Manchester United defender Harry Amass has been left out of the matchday squad for tomorrow’s game against Leeds United in Sweden and will not be going with them on their pre-season tour of the United States, according to the BBC journalist Simon Stone.
The Red Devils have decided that he should go out on loan next season to get regular game time, and he has some clubs interested in recruiting his services.
Summer signing Diego Leon is set to be part of the pre-season tour after he was assigned a squad number, and it appears the Paraguay youth international has done enough to force his way into the Man United first-team after impressing in training this week.
Amass played seven games across all competitions last season as he was behind Patrick Dorgu in the pecking order at left wing-back.
The 18-year-old featured yesterday when the Man United under-21s played a behind-closed-door friendly today against their Macclesfield F.C counterparts and won 8-0, and he reportedly has interest from clubs in the Championship, Bundesliga and Scottish Premiership.
Amass has huge potential but could find playing opportunities harder to come by next season following the arrival of Leon, and a temporary exit could do his development a world of good.
The likes of Godwill Kukonki, Bendito Mantato, Shea Lacey, Sekou Kone and Elyh Harrison could also need to leave on loan for their development to continue as featuring regularly for the under-21s may not be enough for them.
More temporary and permanent departures are expected at Man United in the coming weeks, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia in search of new clubs having been told to train separately from the rest of the team.
Both Leon and Matheus Cunha have joined the first-team this summer, and a move for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo could be sealed in the coming days after both clubs reached an agreement today.
