Man Utd dealt fresh injury blow as 24y/o joins Onana on sidelines, announcement made today

0 3

Manchester United have announced today that Joshua Zirkzee has picked up an injury which would see him miss their game against Leeds United in Stockholm tomorrow.

The Red Devils were dealt a blow last week after it emerged that first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana has sustained a hamstring injury and is a doubt for the start of 2025-26.

The Cameroon international could miss around six to eight weeks of action but is expected to join the rest of the squad for the tour of the United States next week.

Zirkzee is also expected to link up with the team before they leave for America, but he is remaining at Carrington for now to recover from what Man United dubbed ‘small issue’.

The nature of his injury is unknown, but head coach Ruben Amorim will hope it is nothing serious as he prepares for his first full season in charge of the Red Devils.

With Onana unlikely to see action in the United States given the extent of his injury, fans will pay attention to see whether the 24-year-old Dutchman is involved in any of the games against West Ham United, Bournemouth and Everton.

Man United could also have Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo join them on tour after both clubs finally reached an agreement today.

He could be having his medical this weekend from the look of things, and he will now be joining Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha as summer arrivals at the Old Trafford club.

Having Mbeumo with the rest of the squad for pre-season as early as possible would be huge, and more additions are expected as the Red Devils look to hit the ground running when 2025-26 starts.

They kick off the new Premier League campaign against Arsenal at home on August 17, and a victory against the Gunners would be a perfect way to start.
