Tottenham receive their biggest boost yet in pursuit of Yoane Wissa, Newcastle won’t like it

0 16

Tottenham may have just been handed a major boost in their search for a new striker, with Yoane Wissa making his preferences clear amid interest from Newcastle United.

While Tottenham have done a bit of strengthening this summer, bringing in Mohammed Kudus and Kota Takai, while also signing Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel permanently, work still needs to be done on their squad.

Players need to be offloaded, with Yves Bissouma and Richarlison appearing to be the ones attracting the most interest, although no concrete news regarding their departures has been reported at this stage.

Still, Tottenham seem intent on continuing their push to bolster Thomas Frank’s first-team squad, as we have seen the Lilywhites submit a bid for Morgan Gibbs-White, who was expected to undergo a medical 24 hours after his release clause was triggered, but there has since been a delay on that front.

Tottenham target Yoane Wissa prefers reunion with Thomas Frank

Reports claim that Tottenham know what their next objective will be in the summer window once a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White is finalised.

A centre-forward remains on the radar for Spurs, and they have been linked with several strikers this summer, including Dusan Vlahovic, Evann Guessand and Yoane Wissa.

Alex Crook is now reporting that Wissa is attracting interest from Premier League rivals Newcastle United, who are also in the market for a new centre-forward.

The Magpies are said to have ruled themselves out of the race for Hugo Ekitike since Liverpool entered the fray for the Frankfurt striker.

Yoane Wissa, however, has emerged as another option for Eddie Howe’s side, but sources believe he would prefer a reunion with Thomas Frank at Tottenham, which serves as a significant boost to the Lilywhites.

Spurs may need to pay a big fee to land Wissa

Yoane Wissa is one of several attacking players that Thomas Frank has improved during his spell as Brentford boss, alongside Bryan Mbeumo, Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins.

The DR Congo international impressed last season, scoring 19 goals in 34 Premier League appearances, which marked a career-best campaign for the 28-year-old forward.

Tottenham may need to spend big if they are to secure Wissa’s signature this summer, as reports suggest Brentford are set to demand a fee in the region of £50 million for their star forward, who has just one year left on his current deal.
