Cherries sign keeper Petrovic

0 4

Bournemouth have officially confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Premier League rivals Chelsea. The Serbian international has moved to the South Coast for a reported £25m fee, and has put pen to paper a five-year-contract at the Vitality Stadium.

Petrovic made his mark during an impressive stint with New England Revolution in the MLS, also making it to the league’s all-Star team in 2023. Chelsea signed him in the summer of 2023 for a reported £14m fee, and he made 31 appearances for them across all competitions in the 23-24 season before being loaned out to Strasbourg in 2024.

He was impressive at Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg, helping the French club to a 7th placed finish and a spot in the 2025/26 edition of the Conference League.

Chelsea are reigning Conference League holders and also won the Club World Cup recently in the United States. They were heavily linked with a move for French keeper Mike Maignan, but the deal didn’t materialise. The Blues currently have Robert Sanchez as their No.1, with Filip Jorgensen as his backup.

Bournemouth took Kepa on loan from Chelsea last season, but he’s now moved to Arsenal, necessitating the need for another goalkeeper in form of the 25-year-old-Petrovic, who has also been capped by Serbia at international level.
