Tottenham player gives short response to Ange Postecoglou sacking – ‘We have to move on’

0 20

It has been a whirlwind few days at Tottenham Hotspur following the club’s decision to sack Ange Postecoglou, and now, long-serving defender Ben Davies has shared his thoughts on what it is like inside the dressing room.

It took only two seasons before Tottenham Hotspur decided to cut ties with manager Ange Postecoglou, with the club sacking him following a poor Premier League campaign.

While Ange Postecoglou secured a respectable fifth-place finish in his debut season and won a European Cup in his second year after beating Manchester United in the Europa League, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy still wielded the axe on the Australian, sacking Postecoglou for performance-related reasons.

The decision to part ways with the 59-year-old was reported not to have gone down well with a few Tottenham players, with some Spurs players said to be considering their future at the club following Ange’s departure.

Ben Davies gives honest view on Tottenham sacking Ange Postecoglou

We have seen several Tottenham Hotspur first-team players come out to thank Ange Postecoglou for trusting in them and appreciating him for the memories he gave them.

Now, the longest-serving player at Tottenham, Ben Davies, has come out to speak about what it has been like in the Spurs camp.

Speaking on international duty with Wales about the club’s decision to sack Postecoglou, Davies revealed that the players do not have a say on the club’s decision and that, like everyone else, they read about Postecoglou’s sacking from the media.

He said: “From a player’s standpoint, you do not tend to have too much input into those decisions and for us, we kind of read about the news [of Postecoglou’s sacking]. As players, we have to move on and do the job that is in front of us and it is no different this time.”

Ben Davies set for ninth Spurs boss as Thomas Frank linked

Davies, being one of the longest-serving players at Tottenham, after spending over a decade at Spurs, is no stranger to seeing new managers take charge of the north London club.

In fact, since he joined the Lilywhites, he has been coached by eight different managers and is now set to come under a ninth, as Tottenham look to appoint their 16th head coach in the last 24 years, following the sacking of 15 others.

Reports suggest that Thomas Frank is expected to be Postecoglou’s replacement, as a former Sky Sports reporter confirmed that Thomas Frank to Spurs is all but done.
