Ford Final Five Facts: Bruins, Maple Leafs Battle Into OT In Final Season Meeting

The Boston Bruins started their contest against the Maple Leafs with a dominant first period in which both David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand scored. The goal extended Pastrnak’s point streak to an NHL-leading 15 games, and is the longest point streak in his career.

Morgan Geekie would extend the Bruins’ lead to 3-0 in the second period, continuing to pile onto his career-high 19 goal season. But Morgan Rielly would also score in the second period to put the Leafs on the board. Rielly would go on to factor in on three more of the Leafs’ four goals for a four-point night.

The Maple Leafs would tie the game at 3 in the third period off of the sticks of Mitch Marner and Nicholas Robertson before David Pastrnak scored for the Bruins again. This was his 30th goal of the season, making it Pastrnak’s 8th career 30-goal season. Unfortunately, Pontus Holmberg would score in the final minute of regulation and send the game to overtime, where Mitch Marner scored the game winner.

It was the final regular season encounter between the Bruins and the Maple Leafs.
