'We will start...'- Amorim drops big hints on wing-backs for Ipswich Town Clash

0 3

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will take charge of his first Premier League game against Ipswich Town tomorrow.

The United fans are eager to see how the team will line up in his preferred 3-4-3 formation.

Amorim has dropped strong hints that Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui could feature as wing-backs on his debut day at the club.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: “We should start with full-backs because to teach a winger how to defend is harder.

Amorim is right to start with a cautious approach.

United have rarely employed a back-three system, with previous managers over the last decade preferring a traditional back four.

Mazraoui and Dalot are tipped to take the right and left wing-back positions, respectively.

There was speculation among United fans about whether Antony or Alejandro Garnacho might be used in those roles, as Amorim typically prefers one wing-back to be more attack-minded.

However, a cautious approach at the start makes sense. It will give the players time to adjust to the new style of play.

Mazraoui and Dalot will play a pivotal role as they are the only fully fit full-backs available to Amorim.

While Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have returned to training after long-term injuries, neither has been declared fit to start.

It is highly possible that one of the wingers will be used as a substitute in the second half in a wing-back role.

Amorim will face plenty of challenges when selecting his front three.

Rasmus Hojlund is expected to lead the attack as the number nine, with Bruno Fernandes likely to play behind him.

This leaves one spot for grabs for Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Garnacho.

With so many uncertainties surrounding United’s starting XI, the mystery will certainly keep supporters on edge and excited.
