Son continues to be linked with a move

Son is now 32 years of age and the forward’s current deal just has a year left to run, although the Lilywhites do have the option to extend it by another 12 months.

Even though the South Korean remains central to Ange Postecoglou’s plans, his future continues to be the source of much speculation.

It has been reported recently that the Tottenham man is expected to be targeted by several Saudi clubs next summer as one of their marquee signings (Fichajes).

Spurs make contract decision

Tom Barclay has now taken to social media to reveal that the Lilywhites are set to trigger the one-year option on Son’s contract.

That would mean the forward would be tied to the North London club until the summer of 2026.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will also approach their captain for talks over a further extended contract but taking up the option will certainly buy the club some time.

Son has come under criticism

Even though Son has four goal contributions in five Premier League matches this season, the forward has not looked at his sharpest, with some of his finishing and decision-making in the final third falling short of the high standards he has set for himself.

The forward has attracted criticism over recent weeks, with some pundits even suggesting that Tottenham should start looking for his long-term replacement (talkSPORT).
