Giants’ Malik Nabers Shows Exactly What Patriots’ Offense Still Seeks

The New England Patriots are slowly building their roster back to capable production, particularly in a new offense in need of support at several positions.

Wide receiver remains a position in need of an upgrade in New England with a lack of true playmakers. That's not to say that second-year pass-catcher DeMario Douglas isn't dynamic in the slot or that rookie Ja'Lynn Polk can't develop into that type of option for the Patriots.

Additionally, the Patriots have done plenty to try and bring in that top receiver to advance the offense and eventually strengthen the development of future franchise quarterback Drake Maye. They tried to bring in Brandon Aiyuk, but it didn't work out. They also missed out over the last year on DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley, both of whom found their way to the Tennessee Titans.

Just three spots after the Patriots drafted Maye this spring, the New York Giants selected LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers. The Giants have several offensive issues of their own from insufficient weapons to the massive regressions of quarterback Daniel Jones after signing a massive contract. So far, Nabers is more than doing his part to start his rookie campaign, creating big plays and scoring three touchdowns in his first three weeks.

Nabers stole the show again to start Week 4, sending Dallas Cowboys defensive back Andrew Booth in another direction in a move on his route during Thursday Night Football.

New England obviously cannot fill every roster need and fix every offensive problem at once. With that said, the Patriots did get a look at how true young talent on the outside can open up the offense.

With the current group back to work, the Patriots look to keep up with a remarkably talented offensive scheme in Week 4 when they head west to visit the San Francisco 49ers.
