Fitness Update Ahead Of Rangers

0 3

Hibernian FC Head Coach David Gray provided a fitness update ahead of our William Hill Premiership match against Rangers.

The Hibees weren’t in action last weekend due to our Premier Sports Cup exit at hands of Celtic earlier this season, meaning Gray had two weeks on the training pitch with his players in preparation for this one.

He wanted to use that opportunity to get extra sessions and minutes into his players’ legs, and told Hibs TV how pleased he’s been with the last fortnight.

“Initially we’d have rather had a game and been building off those three points at home to keep that momentum going, but it’s given us another opportunity to get the group together again. There are players with different levels of fitness joining the group and players with knocks or injuries, so it’s allowed them to reset a little bit.

‘We’ve managed to get a lot of good work into the players; they’ve been working really hard.

“We had an in-house game as well, so that allowed us to get match minutes into players in a controlled environment. It was important for the likes of Dwight Gayle, Jack Iredale, Junior Hoilett, and Elie Youan.

“It was an opportunity to work hard together, but also to shape up and prepare for this game earlier. The full focus now is pushing towards Rangers.”

Gray will be without Kieron Bowie this weekend due to his serious hamstring injury, and our Head Coach explained he may be without two other First Team players.

“They were both playing with injuries; Joe had a stomach issue and Boyley with his hand. It’s a race against time for them, but they are getting better every day.”
