Jeff Stelling expects Tottenham Hotspur to come away empty-handed from St James’ Park just like they have done in their last two visits, backing Newcastle to win quite comfortably on Sunday.

The Magpies are a formidable side at home as Spurs have found out in their last two visits, which have both ended in humiliating defeats for the Lilywhites.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s men will view this as an opportunity to test themselves against top-quality opposition and send out a real statement about their aspirations this season by coming away with three points.

Stelling believes that it will be a similar story on Sunday to what we have seen over recent seasons, with the pundit backing Newcastle, and Alexander Isak in particular, to have plenty of joy on the counter-attack against Tottenham.

He told talkSPORT: “Spurs have taken a couple of proper beatings on their last two visits to St James’ Park, conceding 10 goals in two matches. Tottenham look like they might well be vulnerable to Newcastle’s counter-punching style.

“Alexander Isak got four of those 10 goals I mentioned. He could be on the scoresheet once again. I think Newcastle are going to get their second home win of the season on Sunday.”
