Papadopoulos: Excited To Play At Easter Road

0 2

Hibs defender Stacey Papadopoulos admits there is both disappointment and pride in the changing room following the Hibees' 0-0 draw versus reigning league champions Celtic.

An exciting, though goalless, draw played out at the Albert Bartlett Stadium on Friday night and the Australian defender has claimed there is mixed feeling regarding the result.

"Individually I feel pretty good. As a team I’m really proud we got the point," Papadopoulos told Hibs TV.

"As competitors we want to win every game, we came here to try and win. We leave a bit disappointed but we are happy to come away with a point against a very good team.

"It’s a different team this year with new players. There has been a standard set with the first four wins. We want to do better every single game and win as much as we can.

"There is a standard but we can’t get too hard-pressed on ourselves either. The next time we meet we’ll try get three points."

The draw keeps Hibs' unbeaten start to the season going and is an improvement upon the four defeats suffered to Celtic last season.

Looking ahead to next week, however, Papadopoulos is excited by the prospect of thousands of Hibees cheering on the side in her first taste of the Edinburgh Derby.

"I’ve heard it’s going to be an occasion playing at Easter Road," the defender said.

"Hopefully we can get a good number of fans out there to cheer for us.

"I’m pretty confident we can get the job done but respect to them, they’ve had a good start and have a good team.

"It’s always good when the fans are there and we can hear them, it’s pushes us on."
